J.E. Lisby Memorial Scholarship

Jeffery Edward (Jay) Lisby was associate editor of 'Bama Magazine and website editor of BamaMag.com. A graduate of Columbus College, he came to the University of Alabama to pursue a graduate degree in journalism after a career as a schoolteacher. After arriving in Tuscaloosa, he began attending Crimson Tide practices and posting his observations on the Bama Magazine internet message board, a practice that eventually led to his employment at 'Bama Magazine. An excellent journalist and true fan of the Tide, Jay succumbed to a reoccurance of bladder cancer on June 23rd, 2004. He was 48 years old.

In order to establish a perpetual endowed scholarship, the University of Alabama requires a minimum fund amount of $20,000. Therefore, any and all of your generous donations would be extremely appreciated. Our goal is to raise at least the minimum amount to endow this scholarship by the end of 2004 in order to award the first Lisby Scholarship to a deserving student in the fall of 2005.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Andrew Bone.

Thank you for your assistance in our effort to honor a man who's love for the University of Alabama and for his selected profession will, with your help, live on at The Capstone!
