The
University of Alabama continues to impress by its steady progress in the
pursuit of excellence. Academically, UA has historically outpaced the state
and fared well nationally. As one of the most respected institutions of
higher learning in the nation, The University of Alabama is always striving
to improve. Moves are currently underway at UA to insure the steady climb
to the ultimate goal. With the help of alumni and friends, The University
of Alabama will rise to new heights in the near future. The following are
some of the current successes that are continuing to happen on The University
of Alabama campus. -The University of Alabama fared well in the 2004

on the team in one year. With UA leading the nation, the closest universities
were Harvard University, Johns Hopkins University, and The University of
Illinois-Chicago, all placing three students each on this year’s team. Congratulations
to Sarah Adair, Kana Ellis, Allison Kellogg, Gabriel Walvatne, and Laura
Medders for your record-breaking achievements and making your university
proud. This achievement places another major feather in the cap of The University
of Alabama’s storied academic tradition. The University of Alabama has produced
a total of 22 winners since the inception of these prestigious awards (over
twice the number of the rest of the colleges and universities from the state
of Alabama, COMBINED!!!) -University of Alabama Alum, George Hopson,
has received NASA’s highest honor. Mr. Hopson earned the Distinguished Service

critique for 2002. The daily student newspaper (The Crimson White), the
student yearbook (Corolla), and the undergraduate literary magazine (The
Marr’s Field Journal), all received the awards based on critiques from more
than 300 judges from around the world. CSPA is an international student
press association owned by Columbia University since 1922 and operated as

in this competition. In 2000 and 2001, Julie Robinson and Kelley Watson,
respectively, won second place. And in 2002, Greer Gray, was a third place
winner. Congratulations to these fine students that are a testament to the
