My advice to you is to just buy one and not worry about how this format thing eventually shakes out. The prices of the units is constantly dropping, as is the price of blank disks so you can't go too wrong either
way. The reason I chose DVD-RW format is because the DVD-Rs will play in
almost any newer stand-alone DVD player, plus the blank disks are cheaper.
