I am about to buy a new PC and am considering a DVD recorder drive that I can transfer my old VHS tapes to DVD. I understand I need a capture card (like ATI TV Wonder, etc.) to capture the analog video for conversion to DVD, along with a software program for the editing, etc. (like Pinnacle, etc.) Any ideas on the type of DVD recorder drive type that would be best for the PC (DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, DVD-RAM, etc.)? Also, any ideas about a good capture card that will give me quality signals for the transfers?
BTW, I am not yet ready to purchase a DVD recorder for my TV, but anticipate getting one later. The price of the DVD recorder for the PC isn't all that much as an add-on for a new PC, so I thought I could take advantage if I could of the ability to transfer my old VHS tapes.
