PRE-SIGNING INTERVIEW
|
|
|
|
Most knowledgeable observers agree that this year's crop of prospects within the state of Alabama is very slim. One of the few big-time prospects in Alabama is Dothan's Michael Barfield (OL). The following interview took place on Tuesday, October 29, 1996. |

TI |
Michael, how's the recruiting process going for you right now? |
MB |
It's really not been bad. I haven't been thinking about it too much yet. My team still has two more games and that's what I am concentrating on right now. |
TI |
Are you giving some thought as to which schools you might be interested in? |
MB |
I'm really open. I like Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, FSU, Georgia Tech and Florida. |
TI |
That's quite a list. Do you have a favorite? |
MB |
I've always been an Alabama fan, but that doesn't mean I'm leaning there. |
TI |
What are you looking for in a school? |
MB |
I am not sure what I want to major in. I think probably some aspect of engineering. Also, I want to go somewhere that needs some help on the offensive line. |
TI |
Have you been evaluating the OL situation for each school you're considering. |
MB |
I've been looking at that some. From what I've seen so far, I think my best chance to see early playing time is at Alabama. |
TI |
Do you have any official visits setup yet? |
MB |
Just one right now. I'm scheduled to visit Alabama and will setup some others later. |
QUICK FACTS: Michael says he's 6'5, 274 and benches 340. He's an outstanding student, so grades will be no problem. Michael's HS number is 78. |
