Dedicated, hard working, and a good attitude
-- that's the way the coaches at Meridian HS describe Santana Stennis.
In fact, he was selected as his team's "Most Dedicated Player."
Santana may not be as highly regarded as many others who signed with the Tide this year, but his desire to wear the Crimson and White is second to none. "I went to some of their [Alabama's] practices this season. It hit me the first time I stepped on the practice field over there that Alabama is a very special place. I knew that's where I wanted to go." The biggest question regarding Santana may be which position he will play at Alabama. He was primarily a DL in HS, but most people expect him to move to center or guard in college. In fact, PIGSKIN PREPS rates Santana as one of the South's top 12 OG prospects. One assistant coach at Meridian told us that, at this point, Santana is stronger (400 BP) than either of his two highly touted teammates at Meridian, Kenny Smith and Kenyatta Walker. The coach added that, although Santana runs just a 5.2, he has excellent quickness the first 10 yards. The past two seasons Santana recorded over 100 tackles and 7 QB sacks. Santana, who's full name is Carlos Santana Stennis, is named after rock musician Carlos Santana. |
