PRE-SIGNING INTERVIEW
with
ANTONEYO WILLIAMS

(Go to Profile)

Today Tider Insider presents an interview with one of the South's most highly publicized RBs. He resides in the Tide's backyard. Of course, we're talking about none other that Tuscaloosa Central star Antoneyo Williams. We spoke to Antoneyo on Wednesday, December 4.

TI

Antoneyo, if you don't mind, we must ask you to clear up some speculation about your grades.

AW

I've really worked hard and it looks very good right now. All I need to do is pass one more English course and I can play college ball next year.

TI

So I guess that means you're narrowing your list of schools down a little bit.

AW

I'm kind of narrowing it down. I like Tennessee, Auburn, Alabama, Ohio State and FSU.

TI

Do you have a preference?

AW

Right now I'd say I'm leaning to Auburn a little bit. I like their offense. It's balanced. Of course, I like Alabama too, but they've got so many running backs I'm not sure I could play early at Alabama. There are times that I think it might be best for me to leave the state. Sometimes I think a change in atmosphere would be good.

TI

What are your feelings on Gene Stallings' resignation?

AW

I wish he would've stayed. I really liked him. I still think they'll continue to be real good with whoever the new coach is.

TI

Describe yourself as a running back.

AW

I can break the long one with my speed or use my power to make the tough yardage. My brother-in-law, Linnie Patrick, played at Alabama. He says the thing I need to work on most is my moves in the open field.

TI

What other advice is Linnie giving you?

AW

Linnie would like for me to go to Alabama so he could watch me play. He still goes to all their home games. He tells me that it's my decision and I should think long and hard before I decide. He says I should go to the place where I'm most comfortable.

TI

Well, when do you expect to make a decision?

AW

It'll be a while. I want to take all my visits first. Right now, I still do not have any official visits set up, but I will probably start setting them soon.

QUICK FACTS: Antoneyo says he's 5'11, 210 and runs a 4.4. His HS jersey number is 11.
