Recruiting Recap

PRE-SIGNING INTERVIEW
with
ANDREW ZOW

(Go to Profile)

Alabama has already received two commitments from players at Jacksonville Bolles HS. The Tide is also recruiting several teammates at Union Co HS in Lake Butler, FL.

Like the Bolles team, Union Co had one of the top teams in the state of Florida this season. In fact, Union Co won the 3-A state title by defeating Frostproof, which was led by Travis Henry.

One of the top defenders for Union Co the past few years has been DB Andrew Zow. Zow was considered a top prospect following his junior season. However, last May Zow suffered a major knee injury which required reconstructive surgery.

After missing four games early in the season, Zow returned to help Union Co to the title. He is now being heavily pursued by several schools as a SS/OLB.

Tider Insider spoke to Andrew on Saturday, December 21.

TI Andrew, how's the knee doing?
AZ It's fine. I am playing basketball and not having any problems.
TI Did the injury have much affect on your play this season?
AZ It slowed me down some at first. I had 7 interceptions as a junior. I only had three this season. That's mainly because I missed four games. My speed is coming back.
TI Tell us what kind of player you are.
AZ A hitter! I love to come up and hit.
TI So, have you started thinking about your future?
AZ I'm considering five schools right now. Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, South Carolina and UCF have all offered me a scholarship. I've got visits set to Alabama on January 10th and South Carolina on the 17th. I'll probably set the others soon.
TI What are you looking for in a school?
AZ Playing time mainly. I would like a shot at QB, but I do not mind defense. I picture myself as a safety type on defense. I've gotten bigger, so linebacker could be a possibility too. Plus, I want to stay within an eight hour drive from home. I don't want it to be too difficult for my mom to come see me play.
TI You have several teammates who are being highly recruited. Do you expect that all of you will attend the same school?
AZ Everybody would like to go together. That may not happen though. I feel like Benny [Alexander] and Gerard [Warren] will go together. The rest of us aren't really sure what we're going to do.
TI You played against Travis Henry in the state championship game. How good is he?
AZ Too good! He's the best I've ever seen. They say he's not fast. Believe me, he's as fast as he needs to be. Very quick also.
QUICK FACTS: Andrew says he's 6'2, 215 and runs a 4.6. Grades will not be a problem. He wore number 4 in HS.
