PRE-SIGNING INTERVIEW
|
|
|
|
This weekend is without question a monumental recruiting time for Alabama football. In fact, the next three weekends will play a big role in shaping the future of the Crimson Tide. We've provided numerous interviews during the past couple of months introducing the prospects who say they are considering Alabama. Now it's time to get down to the nitty-gritty and find out which prospects plan on spending the next four or five years in Tuscaloosa. On Tuesday night, January 7 we spoke to Augusta Josey DB John Fielding. In our conversation, John indicated that Alabama was at the top of his list. |

John, a couple of your teammates, Armark Tolbert and Deon Grant, are very highly recruited defensive backs. How would you compare yourself to those two players? |
JF |
There's no doubt in my mind that I am just as good as they are. Deon and Armark are really good players. I've played with them for quite a while and know what they can do. And I know what I can do. |
TI |
Most people believe you'll play strong safety in college. Describe yourself as a player. |
JF |
Very physical. Love to hit. I've got very good quickness. I like to cover, but I'm strong against the run. That's my thing. |
TI |
Tell us which schools have your interest. |
JF |
Alabama, Clemson, South Carolina State and North Carolina are the schools I'm looking at. Alabama and Clemson are my top two. |
TI |
Do you have a favorite among those two? |
JF |
Right now, it's Alabama. I like their tradition. Also, I think I'd have a chance to play right away. Plus, I like coach Swinney, the coach who is recruiting me for Alabama. |
TI |
What is he like? |
JF |
He's cool. I really like him. He's young and down to earth and I think he comes across really good. |
TI |
Tell us about your teammate Shawn Williams. |
JF |
Shawn is big and strong. He's very quick for his size. The best part of his game is stopping the run. He's just very good all-around. |
QUICK FACTS: John says he's 6'2, 190 and runs a 4.58. John has a 3.1 GPA, but is still awaiting his test results. John wore number 15 in HS. |
