Sam, there are several rumors going around about what you are planning
to do. Why don't you tell us what you're thinking right now? |
| SM |
I've pretty much narrowed it down to Alabama, Florida and Georgia Tech. |
| TI |
Is it true that your mom wants you to go to Florida so you'll be close
to home? |
| SM |
At first my mom said she'd rather me go to Florida because it's closer.
But since our visit to Tuscaloosa a few weeks ago, things have changed.
Now she wants me to go where I'll be happy. |

Do you know where that is? |
| SM |
If you would've asked me that last week, I would've said I was 95%
sure it was Alabama. This week I'm about 75% sure it's Alabama. |

Sounds like the recruiting process is becoming difficult? |
| SM |
It's tough. It's a very big decision. I mean I thought I'd be ready
to make a commitment to Alabama this week, but I've still got questions.
I want to take a visit to Florida in the next couple of weeks and, hopefully,
make a decision shortly after that. |

What are you looking for in the school you'll attend? |
| SM |
I want to play for a great defensive line coach. I feel that all three
schools I'm considering have really good defensive line coaches. That's
the reason I like Alabama so much. Coach DuBose is the best in the country
as far as I'm concerned. Alabama has a great tradition, but if Coach DuBose
wasn't there I wouldn't be nearly as interested in going to Alabama. |

One of your HS teammates, Chris Reier, has already committed to Alabama.
Another one, Tom Hilliard, has committed to Florida. Will either one of
them influence you? |
| SM |
We are all good friends but it's my decision. Chris plays defense and
Tom plays offense. Looking at that, I think they both made good decisions.
If you want to play offense, Florida is the best place in the country.
If you want to play defense, Alabama's the best place in the country. |

Finally, after your visit to Tuscaloosa for the Ole Miss game a few
weeks ago, a rumor was circulating that, while in town, you bought an expensive
Alabama jacket. |
| SM |
That's true. I've been wanting an Alabama jacket for a long time. I've
been going hunting in the Tuscaloosa area for a few year's and every time
I'm up there, I've wanted an Alabama jacket. Now I finally have one. |
| QUICK FACTS: Sam says he's 6'6, 265 and runs a 4.85 40.
His HS jersey number is 67, but he says he wants to wear 95 in college. |
