TRAVIS CARROLL

The following interview took place on Tuesday, October 29, 1996.

Travis there has been some speculation that you may be close to making a decision on which school you'll attend.

I'm really not close to making a decision right now. Alabama is my top choice. I had a really good visit when I went up there. I have developed a good relationship with the coach who's recruiting me, Coach Rouzie. Plus, I like their linebacker tradition. Alabama's defense is a marvel. I want to take all my visits before I make up my mind though.

What other schools do you plan to visit?

I'm not real sure, but probably Georgia, Florida, FSU and UCLA or Miami.

We understand that you and your HS teammate Chris Reier (who's committed to Alabama) are very close?

Chris and I have been best friends for quite a while. We've been talking about going to college together since the sixth grade. He's made his decision and I will make mine. We would like to go to the same place, but I can't let what he's decided influence me.

We ask all the prospects their HS number. Reier told us you wear number 44. Is that the number you want in college?

It's kinda funny you ask that. For some reason I have this infatuation with number 5. I would like to wear it in college if possible, but it's not a major deal.

QUICK FACTS: Travis says he's 6'4, 230 and runs a 4.6 40. Grades will be no problem.
