So what will Adam be -- a running back or a
fullback?
It may not matter since Alabama's new offense apparently will be geared around versatile RBs who can run and catch the ball. The new offense should fit Adam perfectly. While he has the size of a FB, he has the running and receiving ability of a tailback. Walker County coach Bubba Davis is extremely high on his former star: "Adam can do it all. He runs with speed, power and has soft hands. A lot of people assume that he's a between-the-tackles runner. He can get the tough yards, but he's not just a straight-ahead runner. He's also outstanding running outside. He has very good speed and moves in the open field and can turn a short run into a long one." As a junior, Adam made a name for himself by rushing for over 1,700 yards and 17 TDs. His stats fell off a little this past season, primarily because Adam was forced to pull double duty on defense in practices and some games. He told us the extra work caused his legs to become weary by mid-season. However, he still managed over 1,400 yards rushing and 20 TDs. Adam was a two-time All-State selection, a PIGSKIN PREPS first team All-South pick, and a SUPERPREP All-American in his HS career. See Tider Insider's interview with Adam on October, 29, 1996 for our choice for the "Quote of the Year." In that interview, Adam tells the story of how he became caught up in the Alabama spirit while standing on the Tennessee sideline at the UT-Alabama game last season. |
