TUSCALOOSA - Fans who arrive early on Sunday, March 2 for the University of Alabama men's basketball game will get to take home Crimson Tide center Kenny Walker -- in bobble head form that is.
Alabama is giving away 1,000 of the popular sports souvenirs to the first ticketed fans who come to Sunday's 1 p.m. CT game against Ole Miss. The Walker giveaway completes a set that has included all three of Alabama's seniors. Last year's home game giveaways included an Erwin Dudley bobble head, and fans who attended the February 18, 2003 Georgia home game received the Terrance Meade bobble head.
Tickets remain for the Ole Miss game and can be purchased at the door or by phone at (205) 348-BAMA. Alabama only has two home games remaining on its regular season schedule, Ole Miss on Sunday and South Carolina on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. Sunday's game features a Southeastern Conference Western Division match up between the Tide and the Rebels and John R. Wooden All-American and player of the year candidates Erwin Dudley of Alabama and Justin Reed of Mississippi State. Dudley is averaging 19 points a game in his last six games for Alabama. He has led the SEC in rebounding all season and could win his third consecutive league individual rebounding title.
Early arrivals at Wednesday night's game against South Carolina will leave with the latest item in the sports collecting trend, metal lunch boxes. This one features Tide basketball. Tickets remain for that game as well, and fans are urged to come show their support at "Senior Night" as it will be the final regular season home appearance for Dudley, Meade and Walker. The trio has been starters since their freshman seasons and was instrumental in winning the 2002 SEC Championship.
